Ricky Alvers 

BA, Dip Hyp Psych

Ricky is currently Head of PSHE at Brighton College and has worked collaboratively with It Happens Education for many years as a teacher.

He started his teaching career in the state sector in Barcelona where he taught English and French, before moving back to the UK to work as a Spanish and Italian teacher at Brighton College.

During his fifteen years in the independent sector, Ricky has taken on various academic and pastoral roles including Head of Department, Head of Year, Head of Academic Support and Head of Careers.

He has spent the last five years responsible for PSHEE & RSE and delivered training in how to assess RSE at the PSHE Association Conference.

Ricky is also passionate about Mental Health and delivers this training to early years teachers at the South East ECT Conference every year. In his time as Head of PSHEE, whilst curating and delivering a busy PSHE curriculum, Ricky has also introduced the Active Allyship programme, delivers mental health training to all his pupils from Year 7-13, and has co-written and delivered pupil, parent and staff training as well.

Ricky enjoys live music, theatre, reading, travelling, and socialising. He has also recently discovered Bollywood cinema!
